Halloween Treats!!!

It’s almost Halloween! I’m supper excited because for the first time in years it actually falls on a Friday!!! I thought I would put together some tasty treats for you to try. First I made Mud Pie Brownies with worms, Pumpkin Pretzels (my fav!) & Spiral Sugar Cookies.

I started first with the Mud Pie Brownies. I followed the instructions on the box & baked it at 350° for 18 minutes. After it cooled I used a chocolate icing to create a deep mud. Next I chopped up Fudgee O’s to create dirt for the warms to crawl around in. Lastly I put gummi warms on tops, with a few pumpkins to make it look like a field or pumpkin patch.

Sugar Cookies

These cookies are something I love to eat during the holidays so I thought I would find a way to make them more Halloween inspired. I made a basic sugar cookie dough then divided it into 3 peaces. I choose to use orange, green and left the third one plain.
Next I rolled the dough flat & placed in on parchment paper, then repeated this to the green dough. When all three peaces were rolled out I stacked them on top of each other, using the parchment paper to roll the dough into a long tube shape. Next I cut the dough into about 1 cm slices and placed it on a baking sheet. Bake for 10-15mins or until golden on the edges.

2 cups all-purpose flour, plus more for rolling
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, room temperature
1 cup granulated sugar
1 large egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Pumpkin Pretzels

I thought this was going to be the simplest one of all to make but it gave me a little trouble. Melting chocolate is a simple task but if you leave it too long in the microwave the chocolate can seize. I thought I would just dip the pretzels but I found it much easier to just place the pretzel on the waxed paper and spoon the chocolate overtop of them. Don’t forget to add the green Smarties on top as the vine.
